Creative and Innovative Thinking and Banking
The RBS communications team works in a fast-paced constantly changing industry.
Tight deadlines and a focus on process can stifle creativity. So Kerry Leigh was invited to deliver and facilitate a half-day workshop for the team on creative and innovative thinking skills.
The environment for their training day was on a barge in Edinburgh, literally taking the staff literally away on their ‘away day’. It is important to help people to think differently by taking them out of their day-to-day environment. A change of scenery can help break unhelpful patterns in the creative process.
Kerry took the team through various cognitive exercises which focussed on imagination and play as tools to stimulate creativity and innovative thinking. Some great results were achieved in a relatively short space of time.
Laughter, play and humour can all play a useful role in creating the right state to get creative.
We also introduced the growth mindset model to boost innovation. When we are open to challenge and embrace and learn from our mistakes the ideas flow.
