Curtis's Q&A

  • Who or what makes you laugh until it hurts?

Being told I can’t laugh in an extremely quiet environment. Also, Summer Heights High and Ali G.

  • What would your superpower be?
    Positive mindset. Captain Silver Lining.
  • What's the nicest thing anyone ever said to you?
That I empowered and inspired team members on to bigger and better things.
  • What's the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to you?
I wet myself in Cubs when I was 10. We were standing in a circle, legs apart, playing a game where the object was to bat the ball with your hand through the legs of a fellow cub to get them out. I was smashing the game but also needed the toilet. The excitement got too much, and my light green joggers turned a darker shade. It was a small sacrifice to make to be crowned Bat-the-Ball-Between-the-Legs Champion, 1995.
  • What's your mantra?
Life’s not fair, but that’s ok.

Curtis was born and raised in Southend, Essex. However, this is often challenged due to his lack of fake tan or quiff.

Curtis found himself homeless at 16, and against the odds, he pursued his theatrical dreams and won a scholarship to attend a performing arts college where he wore extremely tight dancewear and sweated a lot every day for three years.

After graduating, he toured UK theatres and community venues, performing thousands of shows in various productions. He once shared London’s Bloomsbury Theatre stage with Z lister Antony Costa from 90’s boy band Blue.

In 2015, Curtis stopped being a superstar thespian and joined O2, where he thrived in a number of senior roles, including Retail Manager and Demand Manager.

Whilst at O2, Curtis successfully and single-handedly campaigned for more inclusivity, and after delivering a passionate pitch to heads of the business, he secured funding to proactively employ individuals with Down Syndrome into the workplace, allowing O2 to be the only UK telco company to do so.

Oh, and before he tells you himself at the earliest opportunity, he ran his first marathon in London in 2021 in under 4 hours (3:53).

Curtis despises all seafood and paper straws.
