i-stage Group nominated for the Happiest Workplace award

Victoria Hastings from the i-stage Group, an event and entertainment company, has nominated them for a Happiest workplace award.

In her nomination, Victoria says:

'The ethos at I-Stage group is that being happy at work is seriously important! When employing staff, i-Stage believes that positive attitude is the most important factor as everything else can be taught.

'As a result of the industry we are in (event management), work can get very stressful when we are nearing a big event. As a result, we adopt a work hard play hard mentality and lots of flexibility.

'Employees must be in the office on a Monday Morning for our team meeting (and who wouldn't want to be as coffees, breakfast and a full on gossip about the weekend is swapped - even before the meeting starts.)

'Other than the Monday in the office, the majority of staff are given flexibility within their working day/hours as long as the work gets completed. This enables valued members of the team to work around childcare/family commitments. As a result of such flexibility, it actively encourages people to work harder and promotes engagement and staff well-being.

'I-Stage Group are always willing to have people visit the office to improve staff wellbeing - we have had a pilates class in the office, and a reflexologist come in to offer her services - we want people to be relaxed and have fun to get the best from everyone!

'As cliched as it is, we believe that Teamwork makes the Dream Work. We have high expectations from staff, but people genuinely love being in work. We also set ourselves challenges outside of work to boost team spirit and morale, e.g., The Great North Run 2017 - We decided to start and finish this together even though we were all of various ages and abilities. We trained together in our lunch hours before the run and drank together to celebrate our success afterward, all while making money for an incredible local charity.

'Although we have roles within the business, management is always open to people's ideas and encourage people to develop their skills or areas of interest meaning people feel genuinely valued and feel as if they have control over what they are doing and flourish in a supportive environment. Staff always set their own goals and objectives for the week which we have found enables people to be realistic but driven with their targets.'
