Creative and innovative thinking skills with Lee Kum Kee

Laughologist, Dave Keeling, loves his food and so was tickled pink when asked to run an online session with the inventors of oyster sauce!

The session objective was to challenge the team from all parts of the company to trigger their creative and innovative thinking skills.

Innovation is the introduction of something new and the art of embracing change. So, Dave challenged their thinking from the outset by getting straight to the main source (pardon the pun), asking them to think, then guess, how a sequence of numbers related to his life.

The session was punctuated with mini challenges that incorporated drawings, paper aeroplanes and thinking games, all in a bid to create awareness in and around:

  • Our reactions to something new
  • Questions to help unlock our creative juices
  • How most of us would rather stick with processes that don’t work, rather than risking doing something different

The group also explored psychological safety and the cycle of change, and how important it is in creating an environment where people feel confident, happy and supported. In turn, this creates a foundation from which staff have a growth mindset and feel empowered to share their thoughts, feelings and ideas.

Interactions, ideas and questions flowed throughout, and everyone left with an achy brain.

Job done.
