Meet Debs Gallagher, the happiness superhero who won the coveted title of Happiest Workplace Person in 2017. Debs,  is a manager at Virgin Active gym in Nottingham and her staff and customers love her.

It's not just her sunny nature and positive attitude that made her a winner. Debs cares deeply about all her team and has developed a range of simple, but effective initiatives to keep them happy, healthy and motivated.

Her door is always open, she offers support for all and when times do get difficult, she is compassionate, caring and keeps a cool head.  Since winning the award, she has gained even more recognition. 

She explains: “New general managers coming into the business come to us to look at what great culture looks like, and the Award highlighted that further. There was a lot of interest on social media and I was congratulated on the Virgin Active website and got a lot of positive comments. My team were proud of me and there was a presentation at head office. The MD of the business also sent out an email to everyone congratulating me and setting out the reasons why I won. It was definitely beneficial to win and good to get recognised. It led to me becoming involved in more projects with the people team at Virgin Active.”
