Year 7s develop resilience and change the way they think
Victoria Maitland visited Fazakerley High School in early September to spend a full day working with the new cohort of year 7s.
The focus for the day was developing resilience and exploring how changing the way we think can help us face problems.
Not only was this one of the first days back at school since March, but it was in a brand-new secondary school environment. The students were fantastic and, with boundless energy, embraced the discussions, looked silly during some ‘new skill games’ and started the process of bonding as a bubble.
By the end of the sessions, students had really got to grips with needing to think differently and how, once we recognise our traditional patterns of thinking and seek to challenge them, we can empower ourselves.
To follow in the footsteps of Fazakerley High and think differently for resilience, try:
- Listening to a genre of music you never normally would
- Developing a personal positive mantra for success.
