Vocal techniques at Lime Tree Primary
Victoria Maitland was in fine voice at Lime Tree Primary School when she delivered a workshop to teaching assistants and lunchtime staff.
The half-day session explored vocal technique, breath control, habits, range and storytelling. Victoria explained the habits that most of us fall into that lead to common worries about the voice such as lack of power and not enough variety.
Through lots of games and laughter, the group developed an awareness of how to solve vocal issues through breath, intent and energy. They discovered the sheer size of our vocal apparatus and how to begin to access it.
Finishing up, each person used a story or political speech to explore the full range and possibility of the natural voice.
