Presentation Skills with The Useful Simple Trust
It’s been a busy month for Laughology and Kerry spent a lot of time with The Useful Simple Trust helping them improve their presentation skills. These are people with lots of experience in presenting, with bags of knowledge in their chosen field, but who were keen to increase engagement, particularly given the added online challenge.
Kerry delivered one introductory session to a large group, followed by four more intimate sessions with small groups of individuals. Each one had the opportunity to present at the beginning and end, using the new Laughology tools they had learned: the use of humour, authenticity and increased confidence.
Sometimes when we know we are ‘presenting’, we accidentally lose the human touch, as we become so caught up on getting the key information across. Humans like interacting with other humans, and they’re craving that now more than ever! Delegates discovered the tools to make their presentations much more engaging by bringing more of themselves to their presenting, and by increasing self-belief in their own abilities.
One of the tasks was to try and use their own favourite fun words in their content, as we know impactful words hook the listener’s interest. It was hard to pick a favourite, but Kerry settled on another ‘K’ word – ‘kerfuffle’. Try saying it now out loud - you can’t help but smile!
