Free Webinar: Kindness Makes You Happy and Happiness Makes You Kind
2020 has been a tough year and sometimes it’s hard to find positives. But there is a simple, affordable antidote to the negativity... kindness.
Studies show that giving to others makes us happy, even happier than spending on ourselves. In one study published in the Journal of Social Psychology, British researchers divided 86 participants into three groups. One group was instructed to perform a daily act of kindness for 10 days. Another was told to do something new each day for 10 days. A third group received no instructions.
After the 10 days, a survey showed that the groups which practised kindness and engaged in novel acts both experienced a significant—and roughly equal—boost in happiness; the third group didn’t get any happier. The findings suggest that good deeds do in fact make people feel good.
So with kindness in mind, we’re putting on a FREE webinar! Stephanie Davies, Laughology CEO and Head of Happiness, will be joined by Jacque Smith from the Loveleigh charity. After losing her daughter Leigh to suicide, Jacque decided to set up a charity in her name to promote kindness. You can learn more about the story here.
Our webinar will explore kindness as a concept, as well as give ideas and strategies for you to use it in your work, school and community to boost wellness.
