Creating new values and behaviours with Epoch
Even when companies have been going for years, their values are still important. Sometimes, however, values need updating to fit in with new ways of working and changes that will help the company keep moving forward and stay up-to-date.
Epoch, who you might know better as the makers of Sylvanian Families, have been working with Stephanie Davies, Laughology’s Head of Happiness, to do just that. A brand that brings back childhood memories is still going strong, but to make sure it’s still going in another 40 years, it wanted to update its values and do it in a way that represented its fun culture.
Over the past three months, Stephanie has worked with a group of people from across the organisation to develop Epoch values and behaviours. Epoch was keen to work with all teams to build the values together, and understand what they believed was needed to bring the values to life.
Through various virtual activities and engagement with the wider group, Epoch created new values and behaviours, and launched them on a team day that was face to face - safely, of course, and with plenty of hand sanitiser. Stephanie was so excited about seeing people in real life and secretly hoped the team might turn up in Sylvanian family costumes. Alas, that didn’t happen, but seeing real people was just as exciting.
The day was just part of the successful engagement over the last few months.
Next steps include embedding the new values and behaviours, and working with managers to support them to have conversations and set goals linked to the values.
