Great Hockham Primary School and Nursery nominated for ‘Happiest School’ award

Great Hockham Primary School is a small, village school, set in between Thetford and Watton, in which the local community are very much involved with the school, supporting them in many ways. The school are proud to work towards their school vision of ‘Putting the GREAT into Great Hockham’.

As part of the nomination for Happiest School, Rachael Garrod said:

We encourage our children and staff to have fun whilst learning. We have a joke of the day in one class.

We were fed up of the usual music lessons so bought kazoos for all of KS2 and learned to play AC/DC, David Bowie, Queen and the Star Wars theme. We even played Always Look on the Bright Side of Life in our end of term church service on kazoos.

We took all 94 children plus all the staff on a surprise trip to the beach at the end of term - they didn't know about it until they got to school that morning. We also learn in the woods - we even have a marshmallow tree which sometimes bears fruit. We also have a post SATs party where we all cook lunch over a campfire. These are just a few examples...
We play, we learn, we laugh, we care!

Got to admit, they got our full attention with the ‘Marshmallow Tree’. Are Ofsted aware of this?
