About us
Alan Matthews
Alan has worked in the drugs and HIV prevention field for 25 years as a researcher and trainer.
Since 1990 he has worked as an independent researcher, policy consultant and trainer for a wide range of institutions and organisations dealing with issues such as young people and drug use. Given the sensitive and often emotive nature of the subject, Alan learned quickly that providing a comfortable and safe environment within which to explore the issues was vital to audience participation. Consequently, coming on one of his courses is not what most people expect! Alan’s delivery is relaxed, warm, self-effacing and very funny, despite being grounded in facts and rigorous adherence to the latest research. Balancing science and sociology with hilarious anecdotes, Alan is in constant demand on the conference and training circuit.
At the weekends Alan likes to climb a mountain or two and sing like Julie Andrews.
