Sky Betting & Gaming nomination for Future Leader category of the National Happiness Awards 2017

Fiona Barker, Community Partnerships Manager, at Sky Betting & Gaming, has nominated Will Ridley for the Future Leader category of the National Happiness Awards 2017.

In support of her nomination, Fiona said:

'Since Will joined Sky Betting & Gaming as part of our cohort of commercial graduates in September 2016, he has not stopped smiling. We reckon either joining our awesome company has him constantly grinning from ear to ear, or quite simply he’s one happy chap.

'Whether it’s his enthusiasm towards a Monday morning meeting or inclusivity shown in the bacon-butty round on a Friday, we believe Will brings joy to all that he touches. On a variety of metrics, Will Ridley is a strong contender for Happiest Future Leader:

'Will has been instrumental in spreading charity spirit across Sky Betting & Gaming and has propelled himself into a lead charity ambassador role for our Charity of the Year, Give a Duck. This year alone, he’s taken part in several half marathons, raising hundreds of pounds along the way - and that’s in addition to completing the company’s 10k challenge in the Charity’s Duck Mascot suit!

'His creative approach to work also seen him put in the headlights to hundreds of colleagues when he took part in the Sky Betting & Gaming ‘Charity Pitch’ – an initiative during which employees are invited to put forward a compelling case for their charity of choice to be adopted as Charity of the Year. Despite losing out to just several votes, his presentation and campaigning for Prostate Cancer UK was by far the winning pitch on entertainment standards alone, finding the perfect balance between fun, humour and moving stories.

'Will has been instrumental in organising many of the graduate team social events and activities, and his enthusiasm for the role went beyond the company as he spread the happiness to his 1,000+ Twitter followers and shouted about his exciting new job and colleagues during his first two weeks in the role. He topped the leaderboard with his prolific hashtags and posts and encouraged his cohort of graduate peers to share their best moments from across the fortnight’s induction too, earning himself the lovable title #SBGWill, a spin on the companies well know #SBGLife campaign. Will's manager said:

'"After only a few weeks in his first rotation in the ‘Gaming Content’ team, Will was confident and assured enough to stand up and present the product roadmap in front of the whole team. He engaged the more technical people in the team and was a complete natural in inspiring the team to deliver more and reach peak performance. Soon after this, he was again in the limelight as he presented a ‘game content review’ to a large 3rd party partner. In front of senior management, he relished this opportunity and answered the resulting questions with ease. Given his limited experience and exposure, he thrived in the limelight and provided leadership and direction to others around him." (Rob Proctor, Gaming Content Manager – Line Manager )
