Top of the cops
‘Ello, ‘ello, ‘ello. What’s going on here then? It’s Laughology, working with the police.
Kerry Leigh was invited to deliver an arresting (!) session at the Essex Police Force leadership and policing event. Policing is a high-stress, demanding job and Essex constabulary takes the wellbeing of its staff seriously, understanding how wellbeing impacts on absenteeism and makes staff feel valued.
The event was attended by staff from all ranks and departments and Kerry’s session focussed on practical cognitive techniques which enable people to feel in control, calm and happy. Kerry introduced our unique FLIP resilience model to a very responsive room. One delegate commented: “This presentation really reminded us how we need to focus on being positive and using the techniques promoted in Laughology really lends itself to our service.”
Kerry also presented at another police event, this time in Merseyside, where the conference addressed issues relating to female police officers. Here, Kerry delivered a talk on unconscious bias and how we can challenge it and change perspective through awareness and language.
