Top marks for Manx teachers
CEO Stephanie Davies took a walk down memory lane when she presented an interactive workshop at her former school on the Isle of Man.
Stephanie was born in the UK but moved to the island when she was a young girl and grew up there. She was invited back to take part in an island-wide training initiative organised by education experts Independent Thinking. The project was designed to encourage the island’s schools to think differently about education. Laughology delivered a workshop on humour and happiness in learning and leadership and Stephanie even got to turn the tables and teach techniques to some of her former teachers.
The event encouraged leaders in the school system to think creatively about the type of education they provide. Schools on the island operate outside UK Department of Education rules so are not overseen by Ofsted or rated in league tables, which allow them more flexibility and the opportunity to take a more holistic approach to schooling.
