Pukka team building
Laura Drury drove down the M4 last month to deliver a team building session for Pukka in the glorious surroundings of Bristol Botanic Gardens.
The session was advertised as ‘two become one’ and designed to help smooth the transition as two teams within the company merged. The Spice Girls couldn’t make it so Laura was booked instead. While she’s not as good at back flips as Mel C, she is an expert when it comes to choreographing smooth team mergers and she delivered a session to a group of genuine, fun and generous delegates who even brought lunch for one another, which consisted of lots of scrummy home-made goodies.
After sharing unusual stories as means of introduction, the group dived straight into the unexpected and lots of hilarity. They played a game of Would I Lie To You, which was useful to help practice social intelligence skills, particularly impression management where you have to manage the image you portray to different people whilst maintaining your authenticity.
Whilst most of us might assume social intelligence is just common sense, the increasingly frequent use of phones, tablets and laptops is having a negative effect. Building awareness of how we connect with others and taking time to put the technology aside can help us maintain and
increase it.
Delegates also explored creativity and imagination in a group inventing exercise aimed to help encourage openness and collaboration.
All in all, they really were a ‘Pukka’ group of people.
