Positive Psychology gets a positive reaction
Earlier in July we attended the University Centre Shrewsbury and University of Chester to talk at their psychology department conference.
The theme of the conference was practical interventions to promote positive mental health in schools and communities. It focussed on interventions to help children, and in addition to academics from the universities, there were also various associated organisations in attendance.
The fascinating event covered subjects such as sports and activities for children. Did you know, for example, that 60 minutes of activity is recommended for children six times a week for their mental and social health and wellbeing.
Stephanie Davies delivered an afternoon keynote, followed by a workshop, which covered FLIP for kids and the Happy-Centred Schools programme. The Laughology sessions looked at ways of helping young people and schools use positive mental health as part of their curriculum, not just as an add on. Delegates fed back that the sessions were refreshingly different and welcomed the dynamic way the material was presented.
