Male and female menopause sessions at West Midlands Police Force

One of the most exiting projects we’ve been involved in this year has been the development of new awareness days tackling a subject that’s often seen as difficult. Our Let’s Talk About the Menopause awareness sessions are leading the way in an area that employers are increasingly realising needs to be addressed.

While pregnant women are rightly given help throughout their pregnancies, the menopause – which is a female biological condition that every women experiences – is swept under the carpet and ignored. It has all sorts of impacts for the women going through it, for their families and their work colleagues but it is rarely discussed. The sessions are designed to make people more aware of the menopause and the impacts on working life.

We were invited by Women in Policing to run the sessions for staff and leaders – male and female - at West Midlands Police Force. The force recognises that, like many employers in the UK, it does have an ageing workforce and that the menopause will increasingly become an issue. It is something all employees should be aware of because the menopause can affect women of all ages. We hope that more and more businesses realise how important it is to address this issue. It needn’t be squeamish or awkward.

The sessions are delivered with trademark Laughology fun and humour and get delegates thinking about the subject in open and easy way.

Just some of the feedback was:

What a great way to get people talking

Fun, informative and very touching at times with relevant messages and stories

I learnt a lot and it has made me think differently about how I will talk to my colleagues and my wife about this.
