Funny Business session at CIPD conference - Presented by Kerry Leigh & Dave Keeling

We were delighted to be involved with the prestigious CIPD Annual Conference and Exhibition held over two days at the Manchester Convention Centre. CIPD is the professional body for HR and people development with 140,000 members. Laughology held two events at the conference. The immensely talented Kerry Leigh and Dave Keeling presented a packed comedy improvisation lunchtime session which went down a storm. They used their finely honed comedy skills to look at bias and engagement in teams through the art of improv. Fun games and audience participation were used to address serious issues and to encourage the audience to think about working practices in a different way. In one game called Scene Replay, Dave and Kerry acted out scenarios from the workplace but stopped at certain points and invited the audience to suggest how the scene should progress. There was plenty of hilarity, some serious points and loads of positive feedback.

Laughology CEO Stephanie Davies also delivered a keynote speech at the conference titled The Serious Business of Happiness for Increasing Productivity and Maintaining Talent. She was joined on stage by Pam Betts, head of business improvement at INS. Pam explained how, in a three-year programme, Laughology helped change and shape the culture within INS.

“It was really good to have Pam there,” explains Stephanie.  “It showed the audience that there is a serious outcome to what we do and Pam spoke about the tangible, positive effects of the programme we delivered.”
