Get involved in the Happy-Centred School revolution

We’ve been busy bees here at Laughology HQ over the last few months, creating and developing our PSHE programme for primary schools – the Happy-Centred School Programme.

Full of lessons, resources and guidance for teachers, it’s just what schools need to ensure they develop happy, resilient and confident pupils. And with that fresh new budget to spend, now is the perfect time to invest!

So what exactly is the Happy-Centred School Programme and why should schools join our growing community? Well, other than having all lessons and resources at their fingertips, it covers all aspects of the PSHE curriculum for Reception to Year 6. It also covers parts of the DfE guidelines for RSE 2020.

Our five important themes include:

  • Coping Skills (resilience and mental health)
  • Achievement and Success (how we learn and develop)
  • Confidence (speaking up and out, taking on challenges etc)
  • Positive Relationships (friendships, home relationships), encouraging pupils to consider how to build positive relationships, as well as building empathy and dealing with conflict. It includes content that covers the government’s recent RSE/SRE guidelines.
  • Support (citizenship, helping others)

We’re also busy creating content that includes lessons on ‘online relationships’ and ‘being safe’, covering topics such as online safety, body image, consent and harassment (in an age-appropriate way), stereotypes, respect and self-respect, tolerance and trust.

We pride ourselves in keeping the HCS programme updated regularly, to ensure we keep up with current, important topics. All schools that invest in the programme receive free updates for up to three years. This ensures that the material is fresh and current for schools. We also have our very own Facebook group ready to support teachers and PSHE co-ordinators along the way.

The Happy-Centred School Programme even has an online resource pack including:

Lesson plans: Over 200 PDF format lesson plans (6 lesson plans for every year group from FS to YR 6 for each theme that feeds into happiness). These include end-of-theme assessment activities.
P4C: Philosophy 4 Children advice and a wide range of questions.
Resources: Over 200 resources to support teaching, including award leaves.
Teachers Guide and appendix
