Flip it thinking in the Wirral

Juliette Yardley delivered a half-day inset for the staff of four primary schools in the Wirral this month. She discussed Flip it thinking to a busy hall of eager-to-learn teachers and support staff.

The delegates spent time understanding the role of happiness and humour and how to flip their moods in times of stress during the working day. Growth mindset was key, with staff learning how positive thinking skills can increase resilience and perseverance.

FLIP for positive thinking and behaviours at St Monica’s Primary School The team at St Monica’s Primary School have had an exhausting year, so the head wanted to provide some training to improve coping skills. She also wanted a fun session to lift spirits with tools that could be taken away and used easily.

Laughology had just the thing and deployed pocket rocket Juliette Yardley to deliver a surgical strike of learning, humour and laughter. Juliette showed how delegates could shift perceptions in tricky situations, and they took great pleasure in trying out some of the more practical tasks that illustrated the point. Juliette thought some of the teachers were crying with laughter until she realised that it was hayfever.
