Exploring Happiness and Humour for Feeling in Control - with Autotrader

Stephanie Davies, Laughology’s CEO, wasn’t even born in 1977 when Autotrader first started.  But we all remember the magazine. In fact, Stephanie used to flick through it with her friends and point out which car she wanted when she was older. She was never a Just 17 or Jackie kind of girl.

Sadly, Stephanie never did get that Fiesta XR2 she wanted, but in 2013 Autotrader became fully digital, allowing her to fill her time with car porn. Autotrader has been creating new ways to interact with an online audience ever since.

The recent climate has meant digital working has increased at Autotrader and, like lots of us, this has meant changes and challenges. Laughology has been working with Autotrader for some time now, partnering on various learning projects, so when we were invited to present to their global team and share our Humour and Happiness techniques for helping to face challenges, we really couldn’t say no.

Stephanie worked with Autotrader’s events company to create a presentation to be used on a platform that was designed to feel and look like Autotrader. With sofa interviews, split screens for presentations and background imagery, Stephanie worked her magic to deliver a one-hour interactive session, giving people tools and techniques to face the next few months and ensure everyone can keep viewing cars online.

Free Webinar: Kindness Makes You Happy and Happiness Makes You Kind

Friday 13th November 2020 1pm - 3pm

2020 has been a tough year and sometimes it’s hard to find positives. But there is a simple, affordable antidote to the negativity... kindness.

Studies show that giving to others makes us happy, even happier than spending on ourselves. In one study published in the Journal of Social Psychology, British researchers divided 86 participants into three groups. One group was instructed to perform a daily act of kindness for 10 days. Another was told to do something new each day for 10 days. A third group received no instructions.

After the 10 days, a survey showed that the groups which practised kindness and engaged in novel acts both experienced a significant—and roughly equal—boost in happiness; the third group didn’t get any happier. The findings suggest that good deeds do in fact make people feel good.

So with kindness in mind, we’re putting on a FREE webinar! Stephanie Davies, Laughology CEO and Head of Happiness, will be joined by Jacque Smith from the Loveleigh charity. After losing her daughter Leigh to suicide, Jacque decided to set up a charity in her name to promote kindness. You can learn more about the story here

Our webinar will explore kindness as a concept, as well as give ideas and strategies for you to use it in your work, school and community to boost wellness.

This 30-minute webinar will include:

  • Jacque Smith and Leigh’s story
  • Practical advice and suggestion of steps we can take to help others
  • The power of kindness from a neurobiological perspective
  • How to promote happiness and kindness in your school, work and community
