CIPD HR Conference, Manchester

We were delighted to be invited back to this year’s CIPD HR conference in Manchester, where Stephanie Davies, delivered a keynote on the importance of happiness in engagement.

The dynamic session looked at how happiness should be part of the strategic business plan in any organisation. The session explored the five themes of happiness; positive relationships, personal development, confidence, coping skills, resilience and support.

Stephanie explained that workplace happiness increases productivity, decreases absenteeism and helps organisations attract the best talent. The three and a half hour interactive learning session looked at each theme and what critical skills can be embedded in an organisation to increase happiness amongst teams and individuals.

There was also time spent on how businesses can help embed the five themes of happiness through formal and informal processes with case studies of companies who have done this well.  The clear message was that happiness really does need to be considered as part of HR strategy and whilst companies are starting to sit up and notice, there is still a long way to go before companies really do take this seriously.
