Stand up for Claire House - Presentation skills with a difference

Every year we work with Claire House Children's Hospice and give our time for free to train up to 10 budding comics in stand-up comedy; one of the most challenging performance genres.

You have to think quickly, engage with the audience, be personable, deliver a clear message and most of all you need to be funny.  It's a mean feat and all skills are transferrable in everyday business.  The trainees get just 10 hours of preparation over four weeks and in that time they have to write and deliver their own material and master the stage craft of stand-up.  This Sunday they performed at the Marriott Hotel in Liverpool in front of over 150 people as the culmination of their journey.  Our very own Kerry Leigh fabulously compered the event and spent time training, coaching and working with the team.   Tony and Juliette from Laughology also took part as their development challenge for this year.

Having a background in comedy I know how challenging this is.  I always say you’ll never meet a constipated comedian!  They all did brilliantly and best of all helped us to raise loads of cash for the brilliant Claire House Children's Hospice.  A huge thank you to all the brilliant people who took part, we hope you got as much out of the experience as Claire House did.  A special well done to the winner Sean Barton who was the judge's favourite on the night.   If you are interested in raising money for charity in your work and think stand-up would be a great way to do this, we can deliver a programme at your work too.  Even if you just want to become a great presenter, our Stand and Deliver presentation skills course will teach presentation skills in a way that is memorable and fun. It teaches you to present in an engaging, memorable way which wins over the audience every time.  Don’t just take our word for it, here's what our customers say;

I was terrified before today, but thoroughly enjoyed the course. Thanks Laughology!

Excellent use of my time, I feel more confident about standing up in front of an audience now.

It was one of the best courses I've been on. Very beneficial and great facilitator.

I have learned lifelong skills which I will use and share with my colleagues. Really enjoyed the course, thank you!

I said I didn’t want to go on the course as I’m terrified of presenting, but Laughology made it fun and by the end I really enjoyed the presentation and learnt lots

One of the best presentation skills courses I’ve been on – really helped

This taught me much more than other presentation skills courses I’ve been on and I’ve been on a few!
