Selina’s background in performing and writing has helped her create and deliver a wide range of workshops within the educational, charity and corporate sector. Never one to drop names, Selina has worked with companies such as Montage Theatre Arts, whose patrons include Dame Emma Thompson.

As a performer, she has starred in national commercials for brands like Baker Ross and Barclays and was a part of Bush Theatre’s West London Playwright group, where she wrote and developed her second play.

Selina has created and delivered both virtual and in-person workshops and is passionate about intergenerational projects - uniting young people with the elderly. During the sessions, the groups would devise performances based around superheroes. One of her favourites was when she co-wrote a marriage guide for couples with an amazing woman aged 84 years young, who was married for 59 years.

Selina has been able to combine her creativity with her experience of working within the education and corporate worlds to devise and deliver workshops for the following organisations:

  • The Federation of Entertainment Unions – Networking workshop and boosting creativity after the pandemic.
  • Poplar Union Theatre – Key stage 1 online workshop that was filmed, with supporting worksheets on Black British Heroes for Black History month.
  • Catalyst Housing Association – International Women’s Day workshop on female empowerment
  • Wizard Theatre – Confidence building workshops through their pupil premium programme

And finally…

Selina is grateful that she can do the things she loves, such as working with us at Laughology (of course), being by the sea and dancing like no one is watching. She is a foodie, despite her allergies, and has become an expert at baking cakes without gluten or dairy or shellfish!

Driven by a passion for people and helping others to be the best version of themselves, she has over 15 years of experience working with people from all walks of life.

This vast experience includes the voluntary sector, with some of the most challenging groups in society, supporting them to make positive changes to their lives as well as delivering development programmes in prisons and running leadership development programmes in some of the top businesses in the UK.

With specialisms in cultural change, performance coaching and mental health, she’s the perfect new Laughology member.

Louisa loves new adventures and challenges, and you’ll often find her out in the mountains, hiking, fell-running, outdoor swimming, and generally saying yes to trying new things.

Phew! It’s exhausting just reading about her.

Louisa is one of Laughology’s New Kids on the Block. If you’re thinking 80’s boy band doing back flips and the running man, you wouldn’t be far off.  And her energy? Louisa would give Red Bull a run for their money. Mix this with her vast experience as a facilitator, coach and learning and development professional - and maybe a bandanna - and you’ve got Louisa.

Jim

Originally hailing from Leeds, Jim now lives in Manchester, which is a huge disappointment for his parents, who have had to disown him sadly. But it’s been worth it because, unlike in London, where Jim spent the first decade of his professional life, he can now get from A to B in under 4 hours. Which has really improved his quality of life.

His London years were undeniably exciting, though. As a young actor fresh out of The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, whose illustrious alumni include Daniel Day-Lewis, Olivia Colman, and Jeremy Irons, to name a few (and Patrick Stewart, Naomi Harris and Pete Postlethwaite, to name a few more), Jim was lucky enough to work on some really good shows. And he auditioned for some really GREAT shows.

But as a restless soul, the amount of resting involved in being an actor never felt very restful to Jim, so he took to writing, directing, teaching and coaching. He’s had plays on at Hampton Court Palace and in The West End, and his teaching, facilitation and coaching career has seen him work with everyone from 6-year-olds struggling with literacy to stand-up comedians in LA to senior managers at some of the largest corporations in the world.

He also has a dream to open a bacon sandwich shop, which came very close to happening during the pandemic. That’s currently on ice, but bacon keeps well if cured.

With extensive experience in learning and development across pharmaceutical, telecoms, childcare nurseries and fast-moving consumer goods, Sarah is objective, empathetic and understands the needs of others and learning styles.

Sarah started her professional life as an officer in Greater Manchester Police Force. It was here that she was first rewarded for her love and passion for making a difference. Sarah received a Chief Constable’s Commendation from the late Michael Todd for her dedication, determination and commitment. And she got a financial bonus to boot (which was unheard of).

Since then she’s had a varied career working within health and wellness, retail and financial services, leading and managing numerous training initiatives.

Sarah has extensive experience of designing and delivering management and talent programmes that are challenging and fun.

She is passionate about people and believes everybody has great potential within them.

Outside of work, Sarah loves a challenge and has completed The Three Peaks, The Great North Run and The Dirty Weekend (the largest assault course in Europe, not a swinger’s getaway in Scarborough).

Laura began her professional career as a performer and trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. Her passion lay in theatre; particularly Shakespeare, comedy and farce. She always felt she had great comic... wait for it... timing!

She started delivering communication skills programmes as a ‘side-line’ but rapidly became interested in the psychology behind the work, and trained as a coach. She became passionate about helping others believe in themselves and achieve their goals. Laura is determined to help as many people as possible experience what positive psychology can do for them.
